SUMMARY:Round table dedicated to science and journalism at SciComPt2026
DESCRIPTION:The Journalism Science Alliance will be organizing a round table dedicated to science and journalism at SciComPt2026\, the Portuguese meeting of science communicators\, that will take place in Evora\, between 27 and 29 May. The session is scheduled for the last day of the meeting\, 29 May.  \nThis round table proposes an in-depth analysis of the relationship between scientists and journalists\, using as case studies two projects funded by the European Union: FRONTIERS and the Journalism Science Alliance. These programs promote direct contact and teamwork between two distinct but complementary “worlds”. \nFollowing brief presentations of the programs\, we will hear firsthand accounts from two Journalism Science Alliance grantees — João Mestre (journalist\, Público) and Nuno Guimarães (researcher\, INESC TEC) —\, and from one researcher at a host institution of the FRONTIERS project — Miguel Semedo (researcher\, CIIMAR) — who will share their perceptions and real-life experiences. \nIn a second phase\, the stage will belong to the audience of science communicators. The intention is for this to be a space for co-construction\, where professionals can offer comments\, share experiences\, and formulate suggestions that help to mediate and strengthen the relationship between scientific institutions and the media. \n
