Slaves of the Algorithm

Slovakia

Description

This joint initiative pairs data-driven investigative journalism with independent academic research to explore the human impact of algorithmic systems in the modern workplace. The project will investigate how automated decision-making and digital management tools affect working conditions, while also tracking broader technological shifts that are reshaping entry-level career pipelines. By evaluating these fast-evolving practices against European regulatory and ethical standards, the investigation aims to deliver impactful public-interest reporting that brings transparency to the reality of the digital economy.

“As automated systems and algorithms increasingly dictate the terms of modern work, public interest journalism must look beneath the surface. This grant enables the Živé.sk newsroom to pair deep, independent reporting with rigorous scientific expertise to uncover how these digital platforms impact everyday livelihoods.” — Ringier Slovakia Media / Zive.sk
