The Journalism Science Alliance is designed to support investigative journalism grounded on scientific evidence. Through an ambitious grant funding program, co-funded by Creative Europe, we aim to stimulate the production of local, regional, and transnational investigative journalism co-created by journalists and scientists.

Over the course of two years, the Journalism Science Alliance will fund up to 75 grants for investigative journalism projects that explore the powerful intersection of watchdog journalism and scientific expertise, for generating impactful high-quality journalism that informs and empowers the public.

The session “Closing the Circle”, held on 10 September, brought together 30 grantees from the 24 selected teams of the 2025 Journalism Science Alliance call to reflect on the outcomes, methodologies, and public impact of their joint investigative projects. The lasting value of cross-disciplinary collaboration was highlighted.


Journalism Science Alliance grants

The Journalism Science Alliance grants aim to forge new alliances between media and academia or research institutions, ramp up pertinent skills and operations, and deliver in-depth investigative reporting on topics of public interest, ranging from climate change and healthcare to emerging technologies and local governance.
